6 months old!

Here she is in November, and she's HUGE! Doesnt look at all like a JR to me, more like a Collie cross Fox Terier!
She has far too much energy for one dog, is mad as a hatter!

Lady,not so Lady like

As she grows she looks less like a JR and more like a Italian Greyhound or Whippet crossed with a fox Terrier!

Clyde looking fitter

Since getting on a proper diet(no more wet meat, especially cat food!) and getting exercised he is looking leaner. You wouldnt believe when you look at him how fit he is-if excited he will leap into the air, and one night he leapt off Helens lap onto mine-she was sat on the sette and i was in a chair!

A video of them playing

This was made the day we got him-I'd never seen him play before-its like the inner pup is coming out!

15 August,fun on the field.

We took them out for a walk on our local dog patch, a huge field behind us. I brought a Frisbee with us and some treats in a bum bag and so we decided to gingerly let Lady off the lead.

First she made a bee line for Katie who had ran ahead, typical terrier wants to chase! Then I threw the frisbee while saying 'Lady,Go Fetch' and she ran afyer it like a rocket, picked it up and brought it back to us, that preliminary indoor training paid off!

Clyde was with us but stayed by our side, he had a poorly foot and a bit of a limp so we took things easy with him. Then we got Lady's pink squeeky Kong out and that was it, he wanted to play! When we threw it his ears picked up and he shot after it-you'd never guess he was an old dog!
He wouldnt retrieve it though; we had to do thwe fetching ourselves, unless Katie got there first!

Here's a distant shot of Clyde and Lady playing tug of war with that Kong!

9 August-better feeding

Here he is after a good run roud the garden, chasing Lady.
He's really settling in now, and we've found a food they both like, James Wellbeloved! Lady was a bit picky when it comes to the dry stuff but she loves this one, and she's guaranteed to clear the bowl. I'm glad because she's looking a bit thin round the back and being a whirling dervish of a dog she needs lots of energy rich food. Clyde on the other hand is on a senior variety with less protein, as he's a bit err overweight(10 KG in a Patterdale!)

Settling in an old 'un

As bedtime approached we showed Lady her supper(Iams puppy, she's not keen on the free Hill's Science food we got) and offered a piece to Clyde out of curiosity. We'd been trying all night to get her to eat but resigned ourselves to the fact that she's gonna be eating cat food. Anyway he took a piece, then another and before long the bowl was empty! The good thing is it got Lady interested and they were sharing food with no squabbles, great! So he had some supper-hand fed,he wouldn't eat out of the bowl, and we put him in the hall,on his own with one of Lady's blankies (actually one of my old jumpers!) and despite the odd nose whistle he's settled! He'll probably toilet in the hall but we expect that and we'll just rip the carpet up and put lino down or summat.

August 6th, a new addition!

A relation has had to give up his old Patterdale Terrier named Clyde and we said we would look after him in his golden years. He's about 11 or 12,very grey around the beak but is still quite active. At first he was very sullen and quiet, wouldn't come home with us but we persuaded him,tho I had to carry him part of the way! He gets on with lady now they've had a play in the garden! There's a few problems tho,one being that he's never been house trained, needs a bath, will only eat cat food (Felix) and one disturbing problem is he keeps trying to mount Lady, who at 10 weeks is far too young to be giving off those signals. We're not sure what to do but he might have to have the snip

30 July, thinking...

When we got Lady she was just a JR with long legs, maybe a Parsons, but we've been looking at terrier pics online and in Dogs Today and my other half mentioned that she looks like a smooth Fox Terrier, and having googled for pics of that breed I have to agree!
The father was a proper scruffy mad JR, a bit like Eddie from Frazier, but mum was different. I only got a quick look at her but she reminded me of a long beaked JR,lots of black in the head, and very sleek,;the missus mentioned the possibility of Whippet in there!
Hmmmm

29 July-she's growing!

As you can see she is very alert, always on the go and wanting to play, typical terrier!

July 21,vets first appointment

Took her for her first jab today, had the kids with us and they were arguing cos they wanted to walk her,but of course she had to be carried. In the vets there were 3 no 4 cats in boxes,in various stages of annoyed and a few dogs. There was a HUGE GSD,a fluffy brown thing,an overbred boxer and a very whiney staffy! Consultation went fine, she's a perfect weight, good coat and very alert(oh,yes!) Back in the wailing, sorry waiting room the kids were getting bored and fighting over the only item of child entertainment,a magnetic sketch thingy and I'd had enough by now,Helen and I were starving with the promise of a burger in town in our thoughts. Helen had had a long shift at work with new shoes which by now she could have happily thrown up the nearest tree! At home we collapsed on the couch and opened our Puppy Pack the vets gave us. Inside were leaflets galore, some Frontline and 6 weeks free insurance, not to mention a bag of Hill's Science food stuff.Poor Lady was knackered after her busy day(All that fussing is hard work Dad!) and has spent most of the night asleep.Whenever she woke up she was put outside to do the rear end shuffle but its been raining all night so the towel's had some use! Anyway its late now, lights are out and I'm hitting the sack,no doubt to be woken at 5 or 6 by a desperate-to-go pup!

Lady settling in!

After a few sleepless nights we got her a cage to sleep in, and at first it was downstairs but she wouldnt settle, so we brought it upstairs, and she's a different dog now!

9th July-a new pup!

We heard that someone had some JR pups for sale so we decided to have look and see if there were any left.
We had our fingers crossed and luckily there were 2 left and they were practically identical, but Katie our 3 year old daughter chose the one that Helen was holding, ignoring the one I had!
We decided to call her Lady after Lady and the Tramp, Katie's favourite film!
She's more like a Parson's Russell Terrier which is like a long legged JR, closer to the original breed, but she's not a purebred.
And here she is in her new home!
