A video of them playing

This was made the day we got him-I'd never seen him play before-its like the inner pup is coming out!

15 August,fun on the field.

We took them out for a walk on our local dog patch, a huge field behind us. I brought a Frisbee with us and some treats in a bum bag and so we decided to gingerly let Lady off the lead.

First she made a bee line for Katie who had ran ahead, typical terrier wants to chase! Then I threw the frisbee while saying 'Lady,Go Fetch' and she ran afyer it like a rocket, picked it up and brought it back to us, that preliminary indoor training paid off!

Clyde was with us but stayed by our side, he had a poorly foot and a bit of a limp so we took things easy with him. Then we got Lady's pink squeeky Kong out and that was it, he wanted to play! When we threw it his ears picked up and he shot after it-you'd never guess he was an old dog!
He wouldnt retrieve it though; we had to do thwe fetching ourselves, unless Katie got there first!

Here's a distant shot of Clyde and Lady playing tug of war with that Kong!

9 August-better feeding

Here he is after a good run roud the garden, chasing Lady.
He's really settling in now, and we've found a food they both like, James Wellbeloved! Lady was a bit picky when it comes to the dry stuff but she loves this one, and she's guaranteed to clear the bowl. I'm glad because she's looking a bit thin round the back and being a whirling dervish of a dog she needs lots of energy rich food. Clyde on the other hand is on a senior variety with less protein, as he's a bit err overweight(10 KG in a Patterdale!)

Settling in an old 'un

As bedtime approached we showed Lady her supper(Iams puppy, she's not keen on the free Hill's Science food we got) and offered a piece to Clyde out of curiosity. We'd been trying all night to get her to eat but resigned ourselves to the fact that she's gonna be eating cat food. Anyway he took a piece, then another and before long the bowl was empty! The good thing is it got Lady interested and they were sharing food with no squabbles, great! So he had some supper-hand fed,he wouldn't eat out of the bowl, and we put him in the hall,on his own with one of Lady's blankies (actually one of my old jumpers!) and despite the odd nose whistle he's settled! He'll probably toilet in the hall but we expect that and we'll just rip the carpet up and put lino down or summat.

August 6th, a new addition!

A relation has had to give up his old Patterdale Terrier named Clyde and we said we would look after him in his golden years. He's about 11 or 12,very grey around the beak but is still quite active. At first he was very sullen and quiet, wouldn't come home with us but we persuaded him,tho I had to carry him part of the way! He gets on with lady now they've had a play in the garden! There's a few problems tho,one being that he's never been house trained, needs a bath, will only eat cat food (Felix) and one disturbing problem is he keeps trying to mount Lady, who at 10 weeks is far too young to be giving off those signals. We're not sure what to do but he might have to have the snip
